At PMTS 2023, Absolute Machine Tools details how Lico LNTS multi-slide 11-axis CNC screw machines exceed job shop productivity and enable manufacturers to overcome perpetual employment gaps. According to the company, these machines demonstrate screw machine speed while providing the quality and versatility of a CNC. The benefits of switching from cam to CNC are showcased in this hydraulic fitting demonstration, in which the ability to get multiple tools in the cut while pinch turning and machining inner dimensional work are all performed simultaneously. Other features demonstrated in this part process include the ability to utilize up to four slides located above the main spindle while finalizing finished parts on the turret-mounted pickoff sub spindle.

The key to mass volume production is built into Lico’s LNTS design by combining four multi-axis slides, an eight-position live turret, C-axis on both synchronized main and sub spindles, a gang tooling platform that utilizes eight tools (static and live) on the backworking turret, VDI-30 work holding tooling system, and a parts conveyor. These design features enable shops to drop finished parts without needing secondary operations or benching, ultimately saving time and increasing profits.

  • Laser Technology "Turns" into a Turning Tool

This new technology uses a laser to act as a cutting tool to "turn" parts from solid barstock. This high-speed precision turning machine is especially useful for micromachining, enabling high accuracy for small, complex parts that are often delicate and difficult to machine when implementing conventional turning processes.
