Kennametal Names New V.P for Global Product Management

Kennametal Inc. has appointed Gretchen W. Jezerc to the position of V.P, global product management. With leadership experience in marketing for a number of global manufacturing companies, Ms. Jezerc has strategized, developed and implemented successful marketing programs for such companies as Philips Respironics, PPG Industries and Whirlpool Corporation.

A Pittsburgh native, Ms. Jezerc is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and holds her MBA from INSEAD (European Institute for Business Administration). She speaks German, French and Italian, in addition to English. 
 
Machine Tool Company Headquarters Moves to Larger Building

 

Doosan Infracore headquarters has completed its move to a 60,000-square-foot building in Pine Brook, N.J. A key move for the company was to fully integrate its replacement parts warehouse and service functions. “Bringing them all together in the same building will make available a range of parts for same-day or next-day shipping,” says Jim Shiner, the company’s director of sales and marketing.
 
Also expanded are the company’s display room and systems development operation. The new headquarters will also house a larger, fully equipped spindle rebuild department and a telephone center for 24/7 technical service. Multiple conference centers and training facilities are also available. 
 
ALM Acquires Majority Stake of Integra 
Advanced Laser Materials (ALM)  has entered into a strategic partnership with Integra Services. ALM, a developer and manufacturer of materials for rapid manufacturing, has been affiliated with EOS, a manufacturer of laser-sintering systems. Under the agreement, ALM will act as a majority shareholder, obtaining 51 percent of the Integra shares. This collaboration offers excellent equipment service and materials application, support and development to users of all laser sintering platforms, the company says. 
 
Donnie Vanelli, president of ALM, LLC, says, “The strategic partnership between Integra, ALM and EOS will allow complete custom digital manufacturing solutions for the industry, including integrated platforms, materials and services.” 
 
Software Development Center Opens in Switzerland
CNC Software Europe has been created in Porrentruy, Switzerland, for the development of Mastercam Swiss Expert, a CAD/CAM product dedicated to the Swiss turn market. CNC Software acquired sole rights to SylvieXpert, a Swiss turn software developed in this area of Switzerland in June 2010. The creation of CNC Software Europe SA will allow the company to access the expertise available in the Jura Region of Switzerland, known as the birthplace of Swiss machining.  
 
According to Gary Hargreaves, CNC Software V.P. of business development, “We opened the development center in Switzerland because of our commitment to Mastercam Swiss Expert. Hiring the right talent in Switzerland gives us the team to successfully push forward in this growing market.” 
 
Romi Delivers 150,000th Machine
Industrias Romi SA, the Brazilian parent company of Romi Machine Tools, has reached a milestone—the shipping of machine No. 150,000.
 
To celebrate, Romi held a ceremony at its Santa Barbara d’Oeste Plant 16 for delivery of the VMC (Romi D800). During the event, Romi CEO Livaldo Aguiar dos Santos spoke to attendees about the importance of core principles in the conduct of the company’s business. For Mr. Santos, “Romi’s growth is directly related to its ethical values based on sound business principles that combine creativity and innovation.” 
 
New Coolant Management Product Specialist
Charles G. Taylor of Sparta, N.J., has joined LNS America in the role of product specialist. His primary responsibilities are to work with regional sales managers and establish new market channels for LNS mist collectors, tramp oil removal products and high pressure coolant systems.
Mr. Taylor holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in chemical engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology and brings industrial management and sales experience to his new position. Prior to joining LNS, he held positions with industrial air and coolant filtration companies. This background will aid him as he develops and grows the recently acquired Fox IFS product line in North America, along with existing LNS coolant management products. 
 
70th Anniversary Open House
The Robert E. Morris Company will hold a 70th anniversary celebration at the company’s Windsor, Conn., headquarters on June 15-17, to pay tribute to American innovation. Attendees will have the opportunity to see a selection of machine tools from Okuma, Tsugami, Hardinge, Bridgeport, Kellenberger and more; inspection and measurement equipment from Brown & Sharpe and Romer; laser marking machines from Trumpf Laser Marking Systems; and productivity enhancing tooling and accessories from leading vendors.
