Mikron Tool Opens Expanded Swiss Production Area
The expanded, two-story production area offers customers shorter delivery times thanks to increased capacity.
Mikron Tool says it is investing in the future with the opening of a new production facility in Agno, Switzerland, which includes an expanded, two-story production area of 1,000 square meters. The additional production hall brings the company’s production area to a total of 3,500 square meters.
Elio Lupica, the new COO of Mikron Switzerland AG, Division Tool, inaugurated the new production facilities along with local authorities and representatives of the umbrella organizations AITI and Swissmem.
This investment is said to signify further growth of the Ticino production site and enables Mikron Tool to add additional production capacity, which is good news for the region, because it means new jobs.
During construction, Mikron Tool replaced the old oil heating system with a state-of-the-art mixing plant for heat recovery from production. Mikron Tool was able to cease using fossil fuels in December 2021.
The outdated refrigeration system was also completely replaced. Thanks to this upgrade, 350,000 kWh of electricity will be saved annually. The company says this is in line with its commitment to environmentally-friendly resource consumption. The expansion of production facilities also provides advantages to customers who will benefit from shorter delivery times thanks to increased capacity.
