Hexagon's AI-Powered Manufacturing Solution Reduces Programming Times
IMTS 2024: Hexagon presents the Esprit Edge, an AI-powered manufacturing solution that is designed to simplify CNC machining processes and reduce cycle times.
Hexagon is showcasing Esprit Edge, an AI-powered manufacturing solution that is designed to to streamline workflows, simplify CNC machining processes, empower workforces and increase efficiency.
Esprit Edge aims to reduce reliance on highly skilled programmers and maximize the utilization of CNC equipment. Through a combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twin technology, the capabilities of Esprit Edge include:
- AI-powered decision making: Esprit Edge uses AI to analyze historical data and predict the optimal cutting strategies for each project. The system can continuously learn and adapt, which is said to streamline the programming process and reduce programming times by 75%.
- Automatic program creation: Loading a design model triggers the automatic generation of the machine program. According to the company, this intuitive system eliminates the need for extensive programming expertise, making it simpler to upskill current employees and train new operators.
- Smarter machining: At the core of Esprit Edge lies its intelligent optimization engine. AI algorithms analyze and optimize tool paths and machine movements, which can enable significant reductions in cycle times. Additionally, the system facilitates the synchronization of multi-channel machines, suited to enable seamless operation and maximize production output. The company says that Esprit Edge also optimizes tool life, reducing costs and minimizing downtime associated with tool changes.
