Stripper Q-17 is a premium, powdered, heavy-duty alkaline paint stripper for ferrous metals from Madison Chemical. It has cleaning properties and disperses particulate and oily soils as well as paint pigments, making it ideal for a variety of cleaning, maintenance, restoration/refurbishment projects and applications within industrial, manufacturing and metalworking facilities, the company says.
For best results, this product is best used with12-40 oz/gallon of water at a temperature from 175°F to boiling. Immersion tanks should be steel with a good heat capacity. Depending on the tenacity of the finish being removed, immersion time may vary from a few minutes to a half an hour or more. Stripping should be followed by a water rinse adequate to remove the product. It is safe on ferrous metals when used as directed, although it will etch and attack aluminum and zinc alloys.
