Stripper Q-17 is a premium, powdered, heavy-duty alkaline paint stripper for ferrous metals from Madison Chemical. This versatile product can also remove light rust and coatings such as varnish, lacquer, alkyd, acrylic and more. It has cleaning properties and disperses particulate and oily soils as well as paint pigments, making it ideal for a variety of cleaning, maintenance, restoration/refurbishment projects and applications within industrial, manufacturing and metalworking facilities, the company says.

For best results, this product is best used with12-40 oz/gallon of water at a temperature from 175°F to boiling. Immersion tanks should be steel with a good heat capacity. Depending on the tenacity of the finish being removed, immersion time may vary from a few minutes to a half an hour or more. Stripping should be followed by a water rinse adequate to remove the product. It is safe on ferrous metals when used as directed, although it will etch and attack aluminum and zinc alloys. Full support is provided by numerous levels of the company’s technical personnel.
