Tongtai Horizontal Machining Center for Mass Production Lines

The new SH-4000P horizontal achining center from Tongtai was developed for mass production lines. Sold and serviced by Absolute Machine Tools Inc., the compact SH-4000P
has a XY traveling column design where the pallet moves in the Z path. The APC unit, located in front of the machine, is a rotary pallet changer, exchanging pallets in 5.9 seconds. For pallet rotation in the machining envelope, a contouring B axis indexes the pallet every 0.001 degree and a hydraulic mechanism clamps the pallet in place for repeatability. The B axis is high-speed, with 90-degree index time of 0.5 second.
The SH-4000P features a Meehanite cast iron frame with a three-point leveling system. The LHL/LubeUSA grease lubrication system is standard for ways and ballscrews—no coolant contamination and no waste oil. The 40-mm (1.57”) diameter ballscrews are Class 3 with a double nut pre-loaded and pre-tensioned design, enabling a traverse rate of 2,362 inches per minute. High-speed acceleration reduces non-cut time (XYZ acc/dec of 1.0G). The ABS servo system enables the machine to start anytime from any position. A rear discharge chip removal system includes a center trough with high-volume chip wash for efficient removal. A dual level caterpillar-type conveyor with fines separator is suitable for most chips/material.
At the center of the machine is our integral spindle with 15,000 rpm and spindle acceleration from 0-7,000 in 0.48 second and 0-15,000 in 1.9 seconds. Deceleration from 12,000 rpm to stop is only 0.8 second. Thespindle, which switches windings on the fly, produces 50-hp peak (10 min. rating), 35-hp in high and 25-hp in low while producing 184 foot-pounds of peak torque at 980 rpm.
