2021 Emerging Leader Mike P. Reader isn’t afraid of failure. As V.P. of engineering at Precision Plus, he uses his strong communication skills and hands-on troubleshooting techniques to help him build a strong team. Learn more about his accomplishments and goals in this video.

As vice president of engineering, Michael P. Reader leads the engineering group at Precision Plus Inc. He is a hands-on, team-oriented problem solver and is driven to improve both himself and his colleagues.

Having grown up in the machine shop from the time he was 10, some of his earliest memories are from the shop floor. These experiences proved to be invaluable as he developed a well-rounded set of manufacturing skills through the years. Reader understands the industry and the organization inside and out and is dedicated to it. With his growing knowledge, he has helped Precision Plus thrive during challenging times.

While working summers alongside his grandfather, performing plant maintenance and learning how to fix infrastructure systems, Reader began learning about the business. When he got his driver’s license, he started working in the company’s Miyano (turn-mill) department where he trained under the department lead and ran production 12 hours a day, 5 days a week.

After high school graduation, he knew he wanted to expand his knowledge in manufacturing to help grow the business he knew best. While attending engineering school, he worked summers, holidays and weekends as needed at Precision Plus. After earning a mechanical engineering degree, Reader spent a year working with the engineering group and then was asked to lead the team.
