PMPA Hands Out Awards
At the annual meeting, awards were handed out to individuals and companies. The Gold Micrometer Award was presented to T.R. Phillips, president of Pacific Precision, Inc. (San Dimas, California).

In 1961, Mr. Phillips joined Bell & Howell as a screw machine operator. He left Bell & Howell to become a Swiss setup man at Witterman Co., then he joined American Electronics. For almost 20 years, he was a foreman at Astro Productions. In 1981 he purchased Pacific Precision where he continues today as president. Mr. Phillips served as the Los Angeles Chapter Coordinator from 1990 to 1996, and in 1999, he was elected as trustee-at-large.
In addition, several PMPA technical members were awarded Technical Member Participation Awards for their companies' outstanding contribution and service to the association. The 2001 recipients include AMT Systems, Ltd., Columbus, Ohio; Carpenter Technology Corporation, Reading, Pennsylvania; Hardinge Inc., Elmira, New York; Index Corporation, Shelton, Connecticut; Laurel Steel, Burlington, Ontario, Canada; Republic Technologies International, Akron, Ohio; Somma Tool Company, Waterbury, Connecticut; Tornos Technologies U.S. Corp., Brookfield, Connecticut; Watkins Mfg., Inc., Cincinnati, Ohio; and ZPS/Euroturn, Dayton, Ohio.
