Registration is now open for the Precision Machining Technology Show (PMTS) which runs April 18-20, 2023, in Cleveland, Ohio, at the Huntington Convention Center. PMTS is the only trade show in North America dedicated to the people, technology and suppliers of the precision machining industry. Attendees can register for free at pmts.com using code VIP. The first 1,000 people who register will receive special VIP status at the show. VIPs receive a keepsake PMTS VIP t-shirt, a dedicated line to check in at registration and free drink tickets for the Tuesday and Wednesday Happy Hours. Gardner Business Media and The Association For Manufacturing Technology to Collaborate on FITMA
Gardner Business Media (GBM) and The Association For Manufacturing Technology (AMT) have signed an agreement to organize, produce and promote FITMA, which is Latin America’s premier manufacturing trade show connecting contract manufacturers, OEMs and equipment technology and suppliers from around the world. The FITMA collaboration extends the partnership between GBM and AMT, which in 2021 announced the formation of MT United, a joint venture that empowers North American manufacturers with data, analysis and strategic information for accelerated growth, innovation and global competitiveness.
Manufacturing Cleaning Association Announces New Board
The Manufacturing Cleaning Association (MCA) continues to evolve and grow as it announces new leadership for its board, which includes several founding members who have new board positions they will hold for two years. Jeff Beard, Brulin business development manager, will serve as president; Peter Feamster, Jomesa product management director, will serve as 1st vice president; Michael Valenti, Hubbard-Hall director of technology, will serve as 2nd vice president; and Jay Nawani, Jayco president will serve as treasurer.

Sunnen Acquires Hommel Präzision
Sunnen has acquired Hommel Präzision, a former division of the Hommel Gruppe and a provider of honing and, more recently, deep hole drilling solutions in Germany for more than 70 years. Since 1950, Hommel Präzision has been the exclusive sales and service partner of Sunnen in Germany. The company’s sales and technical service teams will all remain the same — further augmented by the service and support of the Sunnen Global network.
Mazak Adds Syncrex Plant to Manufacturing Campus
Mazak has expanded its Florence, Kentucky, manufacturing campus with the addition of a new Syncrex assembly plant. The 27,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art building combines engineering, production and applications support for the company’s recently launched Syncrex series of Swiss-style machine tools designed specifically for precision high production of small parts.
DMG MORI Partners With Illinois Tech to Open Chicago Training Center
DMG MORI and Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech) intend to establish a national center for advanced manufacturing, which aims to be one of the nation’s first joint university and industry academies to train, develop and empower the advanced manufacturing workforces of the future.

Zeiss Opens Quality Excellence Center in Wixom, Michigan
Zeiss has officially unveiled its state-of-the-art Quality Excellence Center in Wixom, Michigan, near Detroit. The facility for the Industrial Quality and Research (IQR) segment of Zeiss, is represented in the USA by Carl Zeiss Industrial Quality Solutions. The facility’s grand opening included conversations with Zeiss leadership, followed by two open house days for visitors to hear from industry experts, take facility tours and enjoy lunch. Attendees listened to learning sessions led by technical leaders from the aerospace, new energy vehicle, medical and electronics industries.
Alro Steel Opens Grand Rapids Outlet
Alro Steel has opened an Alro Metals Outlet location in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The 15,000-square-foot store sells a broad range of metals and plastics in a convenient retail setting which is open to the public Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The company says the outlet stocks an extensive inventory of carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, tool steel, copper and brass in a variety of shapes, inlcuding rounds, flats, squares, hex, angles, channels, beam, pipe, tube, sheet and plate.
