Sandvik Coromant Offers Virtual, Live Machining Demonstrations
Sandvik Coromant has released a new program of Digital Live Machining (DLM) sessions. The sessions are hosted virtually from Sandvik Coromant Centers — a global network of facilities equipped with modern machinery and technology. The DLM sessions provide live machining demonstrations, educational presentations and interactive discussions with engineering experts. DLM sessions have been held by Sandvik Coromant for a number of years at its Sandvik Coromant Centers.
Registration Opens for Women in Manufacturing Summit Event
The Women in Manufacturing Association (WiM) has announced that its 13th annual Summit event will take place in San Diego, California, Sept. 25-27, 2023, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. The Summit will feature in-person and virtual participation from an estimated 1,000 manufacturing professionals from across the country during three days of keynote presentations, roundtable discussions, breakout sessions, plant tours and social events designed to expand their networks and strengthen the community of women in manufacturing at all levels. WiM is the only national trade association dedicated to year-round support for women in the manufacturing sector.

WTO Breaks Ground for New North American Headquarters
WTO has broken ground for the construction of its new North American headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 21,600-square-foot building will include offices, warehouse, repair service and a modern showroom to serve its customers in North America. Completion is scheduled for May 2024. WTO USA has been serving the American market since 1995. The company says demand for its products and services in North America has increased steadily and it has rapidly outgrown its rented facilities.
Unisig Invests in Newly Constructed Fabrication Department
Unisig, a global manufacturer of deep hole drilling machines, has invested $1.5 million in the latest technology and equipment for the company’s newly constructed 5,000-square-foot fabrication department. The expansion supports the company’s strategy to develop in-house, design-to-finish production of high-quality sheet metal components used in Unisig’s product line. By producing many of its parts in-house, the company says it can preserve and maintain the quality and quantity of its components while optimizing the mix of parts that are made internally versus those that are outsourced for production.
Record Automate 2023 Event Leads to Annual Show
Automate, the largest robotics and automation trade show in North America, celebrated its most successful event to date with record numbers. More than 30,000 people from around the world registered to visit the sold-out show floor which featured 757 exhibitors during Automate’s four-day run May 22-25, 2023, in Detroit, Michigan. Due to the demand for automation and the growing need companies have — both to learn how automation can benefit them as well as connect with partners who can help them deploy automation solutions — the Association for Advancing Automation (A3) will now hold Automate annually.
CAM Market Grew in 2022
CIMdata, a PLM strategic management consulting and research firm, has released its 2023 CIMdata CAM Market Analysis Report (MAR), which is the 31st annual study of the global computer-aided machining (CAM) market. CIMdata estimates that based on end-user payments, the worldwide CAM software and related services market grew by 8.1% in the calendar year 2022. The estimated end-user payments grew from just over $2.4 billion in 2021 to nearly $2.6 billion in 2022.
