For the first time, the Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) and the Taiwan International Machine Tool Show (TMTS) will be held at the same time with a joint show titled “TIMTOS x TMTS 2022” set for Feb. 21-26, 2022, in Taipei, Taiwan. The combination of these two major machine tool exhibitions in Taiwan is designed to create a “1+1 greater than 2” synergy for the industry to boost the international status of Taiwan machine tool industry.
Organizers say total exports of Taiwan machine tools from January to August this year reached U.S. $1.755 billion, an increase of 22.2% over the same period last year. Now TIMTOS and TMTS are working together to host the shows at the same time and same venue to assist Taiwan companies in reaching more global markets.

Onshoring Project Boosts Thought Leadership on Strategic Supply Practices — In the wake of ongoing global supply chain disruptions, a consortium of North American innovators, practitioners and supply chain experts from across the manufacturing industry have launched an endeavor with the express intent to reverse the five-decade trend toward offshoring. The Onshoring Project is focused on developing and sharing new metrics, new tools and practices that will shift executive focus from piece-price calculations, which have led to disastrous effects, toward the sounder and more financially beneficial strategy of sourcing from lean-performing North American suppliers, project members say.

American Precision Museum Launches Interactive Digital Exhibit — The American Precision Museum (APM) recently launched a new interactive digital exhibit called “The Manufacturing Ledger.” The exhibit is a collection of stories and profiles about individuals whose careers were devoted to manufacturing — whether the person’s career was spent on the shop floor, engineering department, sales department or in the corporate boardroom. The exhibit — which is designed to support and inspire the future of manufacturing — is accessible online and will soon be integrated into a physical exhibit at the museum.
Methods Machine Tools to Acquire Koch Machine Tool — Methods Machine Tools Inc. has signed an agreement with an intent to acquire Koch Machine Tool, a machine tool dealer and Methods’ avenue into the Texas machining market since 2010. The company anticipates a definitive agreement by Jan. 1, 2022. Both companies are preparing the proper structure and closing out final transactions to make the transition smooth for employees and customers.

MiQ Partners Expands West Coast Operations — MiQ Partners is expanding its production space in Carlsbad, California, to keep up with market demand and business growth. The company says the 17,000-square-foot expansion is in response to the company’s growth in manufacturing automation across a variety of industries which has continued on a rapid trajectory. The new building is adjacent to MiQ’s current facility in Carlsbad and brings the total operating space at that location close to 37,000 square feet. Together with the facility in West Chester, Ohio, MiQ Partners has nearly 150,000 square feet in total operating space.
Datanomix, Caron Engineering Collaborate on Real-Time Performance Intelligence — Datanomix, an automated production intelligence platform, and Caron Engineering, a manufacturer of tool optimization technologies, are partnering to develop data-driven solutions that leverage the companies’ manufacturing domain expertise in real-time production monitoring and machine tool optimization. This integration adds a new dashboard in the Datanomix platform that aggregates and displays the metrics for all Caron devices deployed in a factory.

Eriez Recycling Test Center Offers Advanced Equipment for Customer Testing — Eriez’s new Recycling Test Center is now open, giving customers a full-scale laboratory opportunity to test their own materials on state-of-the-art recycling equipment to determine the most effective solutions for the toughest separation challenges. The test center is housed in the company’s recently expanded Wager Road plant, located in Erie, Pennsylvania. The facility has the capability to perform sorting tests on a wide variety of ferrous and nonferrous products.
