Jack Schron Jr. highlights the importance of brainpower within a company.

Although a lot of manufacturing is powered by advancements in technology that use a power cord, brainpower is an important resource as well. Jack Schron Jr., president of Jergens Inc., writes about the importance of this brainpower and thinking differently to solve problems in a Last Word column called “Gray Matter Matters.”

“Companies embracing thorough workforce development and collaboration with industry experts are routinely coming up with out-of-the-box solutions that many times overcome challenges that can limit or even stop manufacturing.”

Mr. Schron describes a problem at his company that was solved by the product manager having an open mind and willingness to challenge old ways. “If your company is stagnant or having trouble keeping pace with changes in industry, ask yourself what you’re doing to challenge and inspire your own people,” he says.
