One sure way to compare your business with other similar shops is to take the Top Shops benchmarking survey. This initiative has been prepared in conjunction with MPI Group, the parent company of the Manufacturing and Management Performance Institutes and my sister publication, Modern Machine Shop. It is designed to serve as a comparator for shopfloor strategies and business approaches among similar types of businesses to your own.
