NIMS, the National Institute for Metalworking Skills, updated its Measurement, Materials, and Safety (MMS) certification exam.
The necessary changes were made in response to the community's feedback and current employer needs in the specific areas of measurement, materials and safety, to make sure it continues to be a relevant and useful skills validation tool for our customers.
Several key improvements to the exam include:
- Removal of questions outside of the MMS content areas (for example, drilling and grinding applications)
- Updates to some existing questions
- Addition of new questions
- Updates to include new images for clarity
- Updates to the formatting of some questions
- Raise of the passing score to better reflect the skills needed to perform MMS-related work functions
No questions related to competencies outside of the existing MMS content areas were added to the exam. All study materials and the Certification Toolkit have remained unchanged. Please visit the MMS Information Page for more information.
