Gibbs and Associates’ GibbsCAM 2009 has been certified for Autodesk Inventor 2010 software under the Autodesk Inventor Certified Applications Program. Certification is granted only after a product has been thoroughly tested by internal staff at Autodesk. Certified applications meet certain implementation guidelines and have demonstrated the highest levels of robustness, quality and interoperability with Autodesk Inventor software.
Certification Earned for Aerospace and Defense
Boston Centerless has achieved AS9100B Certification confirming that its quality management system adheres to the standards recognized internationally by the aerospace and defense industry.
Intertek Testing Services, NA Inc. granted the certification to the company after an audit of its quality management system. AS9100 encompasses all the requirements of ISO 9001 along with additional requirements for these industries. Boston Centerless has been ISO 9001:2000 certified since 2001.
National Network of Authorized Vise and Workholding Repair Centers
Kurt Manufacturing Company announced formation of a national network of authorized vise and workholding repair centers. Strategically located throughout the United States and Mexico, the seven service centers are staffed with Kurt workholding experts who provide service and repair to all the company’s original equipment. Included are precision manual vises, hydraulic vises and vertical machining vises. These service centers also inventory Kurt replacement parts for immediate shipment to customers.
Company Begins Sales and Service of Machines in Japan
Mori Seiki has signed a distributorship agreement with DMG for sales/service activities in Japan, regardless of whether the product is DMG’s or Mori Seiki’s. Based on the skills and expertise transferred from DMG Nippon, Mori Seiki will also take care of servicing DMG machines in the field and fulfilling customers’ requests such as after-sales service, spare parts or training.
Competence Brand is Formed
At the first of the year, the Valenite brand will be integrated into the Walter brand structure, and will form the Walter Valenite competence brand. MODCO will become a technology brand under the Walter Valenite competence. Muff Tanriverdi, president of Walter North America, will be responsible for the combined operations.
Partnership Enhances Machine Programming
PartMaker Inc. and Gital America have entered into a strategic partnership to enhance programming Gital’s line-up of multi-axis turn-mill centers and Swiss-type lathes.
Many Gital users have already standardized on PartMaker for programming. This partnership marks a move by Gital to encourage the more productive offline programming of its machines. Under terms of the partnership, Gital applications engineers will undergo training on PartMaker for use with their applications requirements and cooperate with PartMaker Software Inc. in the support of programming for new Gital machine models that come to the marketplace.
New Division Added
RP Machine Enterprises Inc. has acquired the Statesville Division of Alpha/Sullivan Steel. The service center in North Carolina features large Blanchard grinding applications up to 144 inches. This acquisition also provides a magnetic division that will now allow RP to offer a line of magnetic lifting devices, fixturings, tables and chucks.
The new division name will be Alpha Machining and Grinding Inc., managed by Hank Kohl, general manager.
New President Named
Morris Group Inc. promotes Aaron Hornyak to president of The Robert E. Morris Company. Prior to this announcement, Mr. Hornyak served as VP of sales. In that capacity he was responsible for machine tool and accessory sales for the six New England states. Prior to joining The Robert E. Morris Company, Mr. Hornyak served as regional sales manager —northeast for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. Mr. Hornyak will report directly to Brad Morris, who is president of Morris Group Inc., and has direct operational responsibility for the Okuma group of companies.
New Management Appointments
LMT USA Inc. has announced the following organizational appointments: Doug Ewald has been appointed president of LMT USA. Bob Maxey has been appointed VP, business development and marketing. Scott Shippell has been named director of sales, Northern Zone. Gene McNamara has been appointed director of sales, southern zone.
Company Acquisition
Hexagon Metrology has acquired all the outstanding assets and technical intellectual property of Mahr Multisensor GmbH. Hexagon Metrology will reorganize the business and has agreed to employ certain technical service, development and application engineering staff from Mahr Multisensor GmbH.
