Schunk’s six-jaw Rota NCR chuck has three pairs of radially compensating jaws that distribute the chuck clamp force about the circumference of the workpiece, with six points of contact as opposed to the conventional three-point clamping profile found with three-jaw chucks. This chuck can be used for thin-walled or deformation sensitive parts, and rough castings or rings can be centered with minimal distortion to the workpiece. The chuck can also switch from compensating to centric clamping mode by tightening a bolt under the center cover plate.

The chucks also can be outfitted with optional centrifugal force compensation and has provisions for coolant and air media pass-through. In addition, as standard features, the chuck includes an internal greasing system, hardened chuck body and hardened and ground internals. The chuck is available in sizes with diameters of 165, 200, 250, 315, 400, 500, 630, 800, 1000, and 1200 mm with serrated or metric tongue and groove base jaw interfaces.
