Thyssenkrupp Materials Services recently opened a steel service center in Sinton, Texas. The new location will be part of the network of the U.S. business unit, Thyssenkrupp Materials NA.
According to the company, a key objective of the new service center is to support the materials and supply chain management needs of manufacturing companies across multiple markets in the region and neighboring Mexico, which previously relied on materials with long transportation routes due to their geographic location. The Sinton site is a strategic addition to the three existing steel service centers in Richburg, South Carolina; Woodstock, Alabama; and Detroit, Michigan. Read more about the new facility here.
Tsugami America Opens Process Development Center
Tsugami America, the North American importer of Precision Tsugami machine tools, recently launches a Process Development Center at the Tsugami America corporate headquarters in Windsor, Connecticut.
The Process Development Center is a dedicated facility that combines technical expertise and industry know-how on taking a project from concept to full implementation. The team will provide customers with test cut samples, quality verification and limited contract services.
Equipped with dedicated Swiss, Multifunction and LaserSwiss machines, the PDC and team of advanced application engineers in the facility are dedicated to the verification and performance of test cut samples and ensuring part manufacturability. Additionally, the PDC metrology lab has a full line of equipment including a Hexagon bridge CMM, Fowler Sylvanic F60 Vision System and much more to provide quality inspection for all test cuts completed.
Women in Manufacturing Annual Summit Opens for Registration
The Women in Manufacturing Association’s (WiM) 14th annual Summit will take place in Boston, Massachusetts, from October 6-9 at the Hynes Convention Center. The WiM Summit will welcome in-person and virtual participation from an estimated 2,000 manufacturing professionals from around the world. The event includes three days of keynote presentations, breakout sessions, plant tours and social events designed to expand attendees’ networks and strengthen the community of women in manufacturing at all levels.

Verisurf, Scantech Sign Metrology Solutions Agreement

Verisurf Software Inc. and Scantech Digital Inc. have entered into a metrology solutions agreement. Under this agreement, Verisurf offers complete metrology solutions by combining its model-based inspection, measurement and reverse engineering software with training and live technical support, along with Scantech 3D scanners and optical trackers. Customers can now receive single-source consultation, quoting, transactional support and relationship management solutions for inspection and reverse engineering applications.
Verisurf software, combined with Scantech 3D scanners and optical trackers, is said to deliver optimized, time-saving workflows with repeatable process control. Verisurf software is built on a full-featured 3D CAD/CAM platform committed to model-based definition (MBD). This can enable users to perform metrology workflows in a CAD environment and maintain model-based digital continuity. According to the company, Verisurf supports all Scantech 3D scanners and optical trackers, plus all other brands and models of stationary and portable CMMs, including CNC CMMs, scanners, arms and laser trackers, used to measure and collect data for metrology applications.
