Simulation Brings Software to Life

I still get excited when I see interesting enhancements to existing software or new software products that facilitate production improvements. Often this excitement applies to products I use on the job or at home, such as Windows, Microsoft Office or graphics or video production software. But computer-aided manufacturing software certainly has no shortage of version updates, and these improvements can often lead to significant improvements in a shop’s production. That’s something that should be exciting for anyone in our industry.

The latest version of CGTech’s Vericut CNC machine simulation and optimization software (Version 7.1) enables users to reduce scrap loss and rework by eliminating manual prove-out of NC programs. It also optimizes NC programs to save time and produce a higher-quality surface finish.

The software can simulate virtually all types of CNC machine tools, including those from Mori Seiki, Mazak, Makino, Matsuura, Hermle, DMG and Chiron. It can run stand-alone or be integrated with other design and manufacturing systems such as Catia V5, NX, Pro/E, MasterCAM, EdgeCAM, hyperMILL and GibbsCAM.

Enhancements in this latest version are designed to reduce the time required for manufacturing engineers to develop, analyze, inspect and document the CNC programming and machining process. Other improved capabilities include user interaction, simulation, analysis, cutting tool creation and CAD/CAM integration.

See the simulation in action on a specific machine tool type. Current examples include Mazak, Makino, DMG, Mori Seiki, Matsuura, Hermle, Okuma, Chiron, Electroimpact and DST.
