For 40 years, Darex has been a family-owned business. Continuing with that honored tradition, the company is happy to announce that Matthew Bernard will become the 4th generation family member to lead the business. For the past 15 years, Hank O’Dougherty worked as president of Darex.

Now, Hank is passing the leadership torch to Matthew thanks to time spent by Hank training and mentoring this young man as he grew into larger roles within the company.

Matthew’s first job at the company was coming in after school to sweep the floor and take out the trash. Since that time, he has worked in production, new product development, sales, and most recently as the director of marketing. He has spent many hours working with customers to better understand their sharpening needs and has played a key role in the development of new product offerings within the company.

Matthew takes on the role of president with significant support. Hank will join Dave and Dick Bernard in their roles of advisors and mentors. This senior management team will remain in their respective roles and help drive Darex into the future.

It’s an exciting time at the company with some recent product launches taking off, and some innovative, new products on the horizon.

The company extends its thanks to Hank for his wonderful leadership, and offers its congratulations and best wishes to Matthew on his new position.
