Friday, Oct. 7, is this year’s Manufacturing Day, which has grown to 2,471 events spread across the country. Designed to proactively expose students and young people to modern manufacturing, Mfg Day is designed to dispel preconceived and ill-conceived notions about careers in manufacturing.

Shops and plants are opening their doors to show, as well as tell, that today’s manufacturing is a far cry from these young people’s fathers’ and grandfathers’ manufacturing experiences. Visit mfgday.com to learn more about Mfg Day events in your area and ongoing programs designed to educate the next generation on the importance of manufacturing as a potential career choice.

The infographic above, titled “New Dawn for Manufacturing Careers in America,” was prepared by the Reshoring Initiative and promotes the fact that domestic manufacturing has turned a corner and the future is set for stability and growth. Skilled workers are key to making this prediction come true and is a primary reason to support Manufacturing Day. U.S. manufacturing has made great strides in becoming more globally competitive and technologically advanced. Friday is a chance to open our doors and open minds.
