Seminar will Showcase Machining High Temperature Materials
Toyoda Americas and Tungaloy will host Accelerated Machining of Precipitation Hardened Stainless Steel, a lunch learning seminar looking at and demonstrating machining high temperature materials, such as 15-5 stainless steel, on Thursday, Feb. 22.
Toyoda Americas and Tungaloy, the carbide tooling manufacturer, have partnered together to host a lunch learning seminar looking at and demonstrating machining high temperature materials. Titled Accelerated Machining of Precipitation Hardened Stainless Steel, the lunch will be held at the JTEKT Toyoda Americas headquarters located at 316 W. University Ave. Arlington Heights, Illinois 60004 on Thursday, February 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tungaloy will use Toyoda’s FANUC 31i controlled high-speed FH630SX-I 8,000-rpm horizontal machining center to present tool design and technology for high feed milling, shoulder milling and drilling for high temp alloys. The machine has dual drive motors and is fit with a dual cylindrical roller bearing spindle design, dual angular contact thrust bearings, and 30-m/min. (2,360-ipm) rapid feed rates in all axes to support cuts in the hardest materials.
Materials to be demonstrated will include 15-5 stainless steel, which due to high heat generated and a gummy nature needs to be machined with specific geometry and edge prep.
