Wellness Program Takes Healthy Leap
When companies provide a healthy environment for their employees, it is a win/win for all involved.
When companies provide a healthy environment for their employees, it is a win/win for all involved. Onsite perks such as a circuit training equipped gym, a certified personal trainer, fresh fruit provided by the company, and classes for smokers to kick their habit make it almost impossible not to see employee’s health improve even slightly. This also means that companies see a drop in Workers Comp claims, as is the case for Quality Controlled Manufacturing Inc. (QCMI). The Santee, Calif., company offers this wellness program to its employees, and in return, has saved itself money as well as employee time off.
“QCMI’s day-to-day wellness awareness initiative has paid off already, with improved safety records to a substantial drop in Workers Comp claims paid out – from $200,000 in 2011 to $1495 in 2012,” says QCMI COO/CFO Rick Urban. “Over the long-term, the financial benefits will outweigh the current annual investment of approximately $251 plus per employee.”
The company won the honor of the 2013 #5 Healthiest Company in the Small Business Category by the San Diego Business Journal.
