Alro Steel Signs Agreement to Acquire Pottinger Steel

Alro Steel has signed an agreement to acquire Pottinger Steel in Racine, Wisconsin. Pottinger offers a variety of metals, including carbon steel, alloys, stainless steel and aluminum, with same day or next day delivery in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Pottinger Steel was founded in 1898 by Robert B. Pottinger as a blacksmith shop and general steel supplier. In 1970, the Pottinger family sold the company to Eugene Rinehart, who grew the company to become an established steel service center. The company has remained in the Rinehart family for over 50 years, currently operating under the direction of Eric, Matt and Kim Rinehart.

The Rinehart family says, “We are thrilled to be acquired by Alro Steel, whose top priority of customer service we share. Pottinger Steel is one of the oldest businesses in the area, and we are very pleased that the operation will remain in Racine to continue to serve its many loyal customers. This acquisition will benefit our customers with expanded inventories of metals and additional processing capabilities.”
