The Eclipse 12-100 rotary transfer machine is nearly twice as large as the 12-station Hydromat machines. The larger base is said to enable better accuracy and repeatability, according to the company.
Each tool spindle has three-axis or four-axis, all-electric servo spindles, and are larger than previous spindles from the company to accommodate heavier cuts and larger parts. The 12,000 rpm and 20,000 rpm units are through-spindle coolant capable. The bar-fed version has a workpiece diameter as large as 65 mm (2.5") and features a workpiece as long as 180 mm (7") with 127 mm (5") of material outside the collet. A cut-off saw features bar spacing prior to blade retraction after the cut, a two-speed drive motor with belt reduction enables highly accurate cuts, according to the company.
