Eural Gnutti S.p.A.’s R&D laboratories conceived and developed free cutting lead-free aluminum alloys 2033 Lead Free and 6026 Lead Free. They are in compliance with the RoHS directive 2018/740/EU, which has been recently published announcing that Annex 6(b)-II “Lead as an alloying element in aluminum containing up to 0.4% by weight” expires on 05/18/2021 and the new limit for lead will be up to 0.1%. These alloys are also tin free, as tin, because of its brittle nature, causes weakness and cracking of machined parts when submitted to high stress, at low or high temperatures.

6026 Lead Free ensures very good chip forming, good corrosion resistance, high mechanical properties (Rm ≥ 53.7 ksi), excellent surface finishing after turning, excellent for anodizing, and it is also good for hot forging purposes, according to the company. The alloy is also suggested as alternative to alloy 6042, 6262, 6064A, after latest RoHS restrictions. Main applications include automotive (brake pistons, transmission valves), precision machining, valves, oleohydraulic, pneumatic, screws, bolts, nuts, electric and electronic components.
