NSK Americas’ CTS-3030 spindle with coolant-through technology is designed for extra-length, solid carbide drilling. It is said to eliminate the need for pecking, thereby enabling greater accuracy and reduced cycle times.
This high-speed, ultra-precision spindle was developed to seamlessly transport coolant through the cutting tool, resulting in improved hole quality and increased productivity for small-diameter, deep hole drilling, the company says.
The high-speed spindle offers drilling depths of up to 20xD for shank sizes 3.0, 3.175 and 4.0 mm. It offers a variable speed of up to 30,000 rpm, enabling longer tool life, according to the company.
