The O-ring from North Coast Seal is an adaptive seal because of its simplicity, ease of installation and the small space requirement without supporting structures, according to the company. It is especially useful for dynamic or static seals within the temperature limits of elastomeric materials. Successful use is said to depend on proper groove dimensions and selection of the right compound, or from a user’s prior experience with similar applications.
A variety of seals from this company are available in the fluid power industry to help OEMs seal their needs. The company also has an automated inspection machine that inspects these seals for defects and inclusions.
