Sunnen PG Bore Gage Measures Range of Diameters
PMTS 2019: Sunnen's PG-series bore gages are especially useful for process control in a lean manufacturing environment.
Sunnen's PG-series bore gages are especially useful for process control in a lean manufacturing environment. The gages are said to enable reliable ID gaging to the manufacturing floor with no electrical or air connections, making them immune to fluctuations in line voltage or air pressure. A single gage can measure a range of part diameters.
The gages can be mounted at machining stations, eliminating the need for plug gages, mikes, jo blocks or master rings. The gage enables operators to confirm part size with an intuitive analog scale. The speedometer-like scale provides readouts as close as 0.000050" (0.001 mm) for complete inspection of machining operations or fast sampling of large lots, according to the company. Models are available for gaging IDs from 0.090" to 4.31". Metric models cover IDs from 2.0 mm to 109.47 mm.
Gages are used to examine the bore for diameter, taper, barrel, bell mouth, out-of-round and lobing. A sliding faceplate with adjustable stops is said to enable end-to-end examination. Stops can also be set to enable examination of a particular section of the bore, with accuracy right up to the edge of ports, lands and ends, according to the company.
