General Inspection’s VisionLab 3D measuring system is designed to streamline inspection processes and improve overall quality. The company says the system replaces manual gages (such as micrometers, calipers and optical comparators) with an easy-to-use, 3D gaging system. It is said that with 3D modeling, 3D wire thread graphics and other unique graphical displays, human error is removed from the dimensional inspection process.
Within a few seconds, all dimensions (including lengths, diameters, radii angles and external threads) are displayed and measured accurately within 2 microns. Part tolerances are assigned with the appropriate part number and stored in memory for quick recall. Any feature found to be out of tolerance is highlighted in red for immediate notification. A complete roster of all part dimensions is stored in the system onto which data can be entered, which can then be transferred to the user’s customized data collection program.
The company says the system offers complete inspection time in less than 5 seconds and up to 360 profiles (such as measuring with 360 optical comparators at once). It also has enhanced geometric dimensioning and tolerancing feature measurements, simplified 3D GUI and built-in self-calibration.
