Manufacturing Production Cell Runs Fully Automated
Source: SW North America Inc.
SW North America Inc. is demonstrating a small production cell comprising:
- The BA W02-22, a multispindle machining center designed to produce high-quality parts using linear drive technology and the company’s Monoblock design.
- The BA 322i, designed to function as an independent manufacturing cell that can store enough workpieces for an entire shift. This twin-spindle horizontal machining center can produce twice the output using less floor space and energy.
- The TopRob7, a gantry axis at a height of 2 meters that loads and unloads machines and systems process-oriented from above, removing the need for protective fences and trip hazards and providing an unobstructed view into the work areas and the components of the machine tools are directly accessible.
Lathe Boosts Turning Efficiency
Tsugami America unveils the Tsugami SS20MH-III-5AX, a multifunction sliding headstock lathe with a B-axis tool spindle, created for the medical, automotive, aerospace, general industries and more. This 20-mm platform can make complex-shaped workpieces with 3D curved surfaces using the five-axis simultaneous control and Capto C3, 30 position tool magazine, all from bar stock or blanks. The SS20MH-III-5AX is built for high accuracy; flexibility can be increased with the ability to run with a guide bushing or in chucker mode. Linear scales and automatic tool presetter are included as standard.
Additionally, attendees can see the SS20MH-III-5AX in action, paired with an integrated solution cart by Tsugami America Automation. This platform includes a FANUC CRX-5iA robot with Schunck Universal Gripper for part loading and unloading, a Pro Ultrasonics Cleaning Tank for part sanitization, MiJet Drying System for part blow off and Trumpf TruMark 6030 laser with VisionLine for part identification.
Software Solution Boosts Efficiency in Parts Manufacturing
Siemens Digital Industries Software is introducing the NX X manufacturing software, a cloud-based CAD/CAM solution for part manufacturing. It is now accessible via the cloud, which can enhance operational efficiency for companies of all sizes. A feature of the Siemens Xcelerator as a service cloud-based portfolio, NX X Manufacturing delivers software as-a-service (SaaS), enabling manufacturers to free up resources. By leveraging the power of cloud technology, Siemens can enable part manufacturers to access their CAD/CAM software anytime, anywhere, while maintaining data security and compliance.
Configurable Multitasking Machines Enable Flexible Large-Part Manufacturing

Advanced manufacturing technology from Soraluce, Geminis, Ibarmia, Momentum, Famar and Fausto Marinello are being showcased in Select Manufacturing Technologies’ booth. Each machine on display can be configurable to meet the specific needs of manufacturers working with large, complex components. Additionally, Famar and Fausto Marinello (of Famar Group) are highlighting automated multitasking machining systems engineered for high-volume, precision applications.
Machine-Tending Solutions Support Range of Machining Centers
Source: Hurco Companies Inc.
Hurco Companies Inc. is demonstrating the capabilities of ProCobots automation on several Hurco machines, illustrating a simple setup and the ability to run different jobs through the Hurco control’s Automation Job Manager feature, which can eliminate the need for robot programming. The company says that attendees can see the quick movement of ProCobots from one machine to another, as well as the cobot’s safety features.
ProCobots automation can enable shops to take the time-consuming task of loading/unloading parts off their machinists’ plates, which is said to save time and maximize productivity. The company says that the implementation of ProCobots automation on Hurco CNC machines can expand the skillset of current shopfloor employees, and it can also increase the overall productivity of the shop. When machinists clock out, ProCobots can keep running through the night, which can maximize profits.
Machine Monitoring System Analyzes ERP Data in Real Time
Source: ECI Software Solutions
ECI Software Solutions is showcasing Alora, a machine monitoring system designed to connect and analyze shop floor and ERP data in real time. By triggering actions that reduce downtime, scrap and equipment failure, Alora can increase utilization of existing machinery and staff, enabling machine operators and managers to maximize their impact on production performance. Utilization rates can increase by as much as 20% within a few weeks, according to the company.
