Video Tech Brief: Three Lathe Turrets Machining Simultaneously
At PMTS 2023, Spinner North America explains that having three turrets cutting at the same time in a CNC lathe can significantly reduce cycle times while offering better utilization of a machine shop’s cutting resources.
Having multiple tools cutting at the same time can significantly reduce cycle times. The multi-turret TTS CNC turning center from Spinner North America enables all three turrets to cut simultaneously on either of its two spindles or even on a single spindle, enabling faster cycles and better utilization of a machine shop’s cutting resources. During PMTS 2023, the company offered a demonstration of this concept in its booth.
Spinner North America also offers equipment that can hard turn and grind on one machine platform. Instead of using a dedicated grinding machine or an outside grinding vendor to achieve very high surface finishes, a machine such as the Microturn Grind that can perform both operations can reduce work in process and speed part completion while taking up minimal floor space.
