PMTS Tech Talks to Focus on Honing/Lapping Technology and Forging
The PMTS 2019 Tech Talk schedule includes presentations from Sunnen on improving bore shape, size control and surface finish with honing/lapping, and from Mueller Industries on the future in forging.
Are you planning to attend PMTS 2019 this year? If so, don’t miss the PMTS Tech Talks to learn more about specific products and processes. The Tech Talks are brief, interactive presentations held on the show floor by industry professionals and leading equipment suppliers that will give attendees the knowledge to help improve their company’s processes.
David Chobany, business development manager at Sunnen, will present “Improving Bore Shape, Size Control and Surface Finish through Innovations in Honing/Lapping Technology.” To produce the ultimate in precision bore geometry and surface structuring requires highly engineered bore sizing machine tools using intuitive control platforms. Precision honing and lapping systems are highly automated and engineered to produce consistent, repeatable bore geometries with tolerances almost too small to measure. This presentation will discuss the rapid advances in these technologies, including bore geometry, surface tribology (plateau finishes, bearing ratios), burr conditions (torn and folded metal) and edge condition, among others. This Tech Talk will take place Wednesday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m. in the Tech Talk Theater in the back of Hall A.
In another Tech Talk presentation, held Wednesday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m., Peter Lamb, sales manager at Mueller Industries, Matt Martini, global forging sales manager, and Don Forgie, technical services forgings, will present “Forging the Next Century.” These gentlemen will present the process of brass and aluminum forging and the advantages of near net shape forgings in these materials, and they will also discuss the forgeable alloys in brass and aluminum. See this presentation also in the Tech Talk Theater in the back of Hall A.
Attend PMTS 2019, April 2-4, at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland, Cleveland, Ohio. For more information and to register, go to PMTS.com.
