Mahr Inc.’s MarOpto MT 100 is part of a series of Fizeau interferometer towers for measuring optics directly in production. The interferometers are supported by Intelliwave software to allow measurement of both radius and form deviations as a measurement wizard guides the user through the steps to complete the measurement, the company says.
The interferometers can be used with precision optics production up to 4” diameter. According to the company, spheres and flats can be measured with lambda/20 accuracy and the Z axis covers 800 mm at a resolution of 0.5 µm for precision determination of the radius in the optic under test.

Swiss-types have limited tooling capacity, but there can be advantages to giving up some of that capacity to take advantage of a touch probe — in fact, a scanning probe — to enable in-process part measurements.
