Mitutoyo Measurement System Provides Highly Accurate Readings
Eastec 2023: The LH-600F Linear Height Measurement System features a high-accuracy scale unit and guiding mechanism.
Mitutoyo America Corp.’s LH-600F Linear Height Measurement System is the latest model in the Mitutoyo Linear Height Gage line. It has several new features, including a high-accuracy scale unit and guiding mechanism.
The LH-600F now features a touchscreen interface that is designed for easy and intuitive operation, enabling users to measure with the press of a button or through touchscreen icons. The rotatable and adjustable display of the LH-600F also enables use from both front and rear orientations. There are also new output options, including a Digimatic output that enables data to be sent directly to Excel or statistical process control (SPC) software, wired or wirelessly, while maintaining USB and RS232C output capabilities.
It also has a new self-check feature that can detect dirt or oil on the encoder, ensuring the instrument is clean and able to provide accurate measurements. The system can make instant changes to units, resolution and delta measurement from the previous reading, while an air bearing system makes it easy to move the height gage around.
The LH-600F has motorized capabilities that provide better repeatability and reproducibility, as well as an improved 2D mode to measure angles, bolt hole circles and more. A new optional foot switch enables hands-free repeat measuring of volume parts. Multiple probe options and switchable probe positions enable better perpendicularity and straightness measurements.
The LH-600F is said to provide excellent accuracy of 1.1+0.6L/600 micron with 0.1 m/0.5 m resolution/repeatability. It is available in both imperial and metric models.
Look for these and other measurement options at Booth 3111 at Eastec 2023.

Does a Scanning Probe Make Sense on a Swiss-Type?
Swiss-types have limited tooling capacity, but there can be advantages to giving up some of that capacity to take advantage of a touch probe — in fact, a scanning probe — to enable in-process part measurements.
