Niagara Cutters Redesigned to Reduce Power Consumption

Seco Tool Co.’s Niagara Cutter A245/345 tooling solutions have been redesigned to reduce power consumption and improve chip evacuation in aluminum machining applications.
The upgraded Niagara Cutter A245/A345 product family is designed to solve the power consumption issue that most aluminum manufacturers encounter. By combining an engineered flute shape and polished K-land, the cutters give users an optimal combination of helix angle and rake angle to reduce power consumption by a minimum of 20%, the company says.
The company says this product upgrade also includes the latest in engineered PVD coatings called aluminum nonferrous (ANF). This coating is said to reduce friction and built-up material on the cutting edge, which improves workpiece surface finish and increases tool life to eliminate surface finish quality issues when milling aluminum. It is said the coating can increase the product’s tool life as compared to uncoated and TiCN-coated solutions.
