Rollomatic LaserSmart 510 Femto for Cutting Ultrahard Materials
The company says the machine can achieve surface finishes as low as Ra 40 nanometers and produce crisper, sharper cutting edges compared to conventional laser machines.
Rollomatic’s LaserSmart 510 Femto is a femto-second laser cutting machine for PCD (polycrystalline diamond) and other ultrahard materials. The machine features a powerful femto-second laser source which the company says provides unlimited machining possibilities.
This laser source has a femto-second pulse width which is 1,000 shorter than a pico laser. It is built on the success of the Rollomatic LaserSmart series of machines featuring a process that enables users to achieve results that set new standards in ultrahard material machining.
According to the company, this LaserSmart model is the world’s only femto-second laser cutting machine for PCD and other ultrahard materials. It can achieve surface finishes as low as Ra 40 nanometers and produce crisper, sharper cutting edges compared to conventional laser machines. It specifically improves finishes on 3D machining of drills and end mills.
The machine also offers 30% faster feed rates compared to conventional laser machines. The pulse width on a femto-second laser is 1,000 times faster than a pico lasers. It can handle 3D machining, profile cutting, cylindrical margins, chip breakers, fluting and more. It is also suitable for ceramics, carbide, sapphire, glass or other ultrahard materials. It is said the machine automatically adapts the machining process to the type of material.
