RWK Creates Tools to Hold Tight Tolerances, Ensure Repeatability
PMTS 2023: The company grinds all of its tooling between centers which enables its tools to hold tight tolerances and is the most efficient method of ensuring repeatability in round tooling.
RWK Tool Co. specializes in carbide, HSS and carbide-tipped cutting tools manufactured to customer specifications. It focuses on manufacturing of an array of cutting tools, whether it is reamers, drills, counter bores, backworking tools, form tools, recess tools, broaches or trepans.
It grinds all of its tooling between centers which enables it to hold tight tolerances for solid carbide, braze and carbide round tooling. The company says grinding between centers is unique and is the most efficient method of ensuring repeatability in round tooling.
RWK’s goal is to ensure the customer’s part is cut correctly the first time. This includes special diameter drills, special step drills, porting tools, special diameter reamers, special step reamers, recess tools, recessed milling cutters and broaches. It also manufactures special cutters and forms, circular forms, crowning tools, chamber reamers and trepan cutters.
It also stocks a wide range of solid carbide blanks, both solid and coolant-through. It turns, mills and heat treats various materials, including T15, M42, Rex76 and M2. It also turns, mills and heat-treat 41-40 material in order to make steel blanks. It brazes carbide tips into the steel bodies and grinds the form, enabling it to manufacture larger tools at a lower cost than solid carbide.
Even for customers that don’t have tool prints, RWK works with the customer to design tooling to fit the application and get the job done. The company also offers resharpening services.
