Bill Marcell, COO and president of Standby Screw Machine Products, solved a long-time nagging production problem with the installation of this cell in his traditional screw machine shop.      

If there is a buzz word in metalworking manufacturing today, it has got to be automation. The shop that we profiled in an article titled “Moving Automation In is a stable veteran manufacturer that doesn’t necessarily follow the “buzz” for its own sake.

Standby Screw Machine Products has roots extending to before World War II and as a traditional screw machine shop, has seen a lot of “buzz” come and go. This shop appreciates automation, but not for its own sake. Standby automates to get concrete results.
