The Gardner Business Index: Precision Machining carried into April the trend from March, moving from flat into contraction, landing at an index of 48.9.
According to information gleaned from Gardner Business Intelligence surveys, GBI: Precision Machining component activity generally continued in March the ‘right’ paths observed in February.
Although previously robust, the U.S. metalworking economy has softened in recent months. However, the overall outlook remains strong. Even a possible 2023 recession does not appear to be an obstacle to continued growth over the next few years.
